"Who knows? Not me..."

- I'm back from Tallahassee :) It was a lovely trip, even if I spent most of the time coughing and wheezing and involuntarily sounding like the Godfather when I spoke. Marty [livejournal.com profile] samarin and Yaël [livejournal.com profile] yaello came with, and we visited my family and hung out with Brett [livejournal.com profile] zip4096 and Garrett [livejournal.com profile] lomonthang and walked around Lake Ella and marvelled at the amazingness that is middle and south Georgia along the way. No racing for me, though, which is alright, because I can't imagine I'd have been pleased, had I tried it. It was wonderful to get to see my people again, yay! *hugs for everybody*

- Brett's cartoon is coming along, and it's beautiful, and everybody at the film festival is going to be amazed.

- There's a lot of work to do. There's always a lot of work to do. Eep. Thankfully, it's good work, and it's related to things that I should know about and want to study. So there.

- XFCE (a very pretty and light-weight desktop system for X) version 4.2 rocks really hard -- 4.0 was nice, but 4.2 is even better, and it deals with dual screens in a very sensible fashion. I recommend it heartily, even for people used to Mac OS or windoze... were I setting up a Linux box for my mother ([livejournal.com profile] dramamamalama), I'd probably put XFCE on it.
