"You can try anything you want..."

The hope in the air is palpable, what with all the new freshmen milling around. Terribly interesting, particularly how I'm on the grizzled veteran side of the "well, years ago..." conversation being held all over the campus... I've been busy running around and being manic and sociable, hanging out at psiu (where I'll likely be milling around a lot this semester) and enjoying the company of all the wonderful people I'm so fortunate to be around...

So yeah... this is going to be fun. My books are stacked up and my pens are all in a row, and if there were notebooks, they'd all be colour-coordinated. This semester's classes are likely going to be entertaining (they always are, before you start them...), and I'm ready to go, slightly twitchy at that.

My first class tomorrow is at 3pm :) And my eMac is showing up on Tuesday, and now I've got a book on Cocoa -- ph34r.

Also, Yael [livejournal.com profile] yaello gave me a beautiful enormous purple pimp hat with a green feather.

*shakes head* No TAing this time around, actually... but research with Ashwin continues :)

Ooh, which class are you doing -- is this CS I? And which language is it in? (had you heard that they switched to Python 'round these parts? ...)

Yeah, I assume I'll be teaching CS U211 (http://www.ccs.neu.edu/home/matthias/211-f04/). Oh, and trust me, it's in Scheme -- after all, Matthias (http://www.ccs.neu.edu/home/matthias/) is in charge of the freshman CS curriculum around here AFAICT, and not only did he bring a good amount of the PLT Scheme (http://www.plt-scheme.org/) folks over here (as well as the head of it, I assume), but he is the main author of How to Design Programs (http://www.htdp.org/) (yes, the book we were using at Tech).

Cool, I hope your research goes well -- keep me in touch about what y'all're doing!
