- I'm in Tallahassee :) It's pretty awesome. I've been sleeping a lot and running a fair bit.

lomonthang is totally hitting glowing-hot chunks of metal with big hammers. In the abstract, I was aware that he'd been forging. But, I mean -- he's got this propane forge thing... and it's absurdly hot. I watched him beating on chunks of metal until they looked much more like knives than when he started. Brooks yourusername and I took a few whacks as well (I was a little afraid, but surely Garrett wouldn't lead us astray, and I was very careful) and Brooks was really excited about it. He said it really well -- "it's the sort of thing that you think can only be made in a factory!" ... but Garrett is out there, totally making stuff out of metal on his own. It's pretty crazy.
- Also I saw Lloydyourusername and Janice, busy doing their inseparability and cute-together thing :) Hooray. He gave me a copy of his honors dissertation thinget (which is very much has to do with Northrop Frye, interestingly, O Ms. agonistes... relating him to Neoplatonism) -- I'll take a stab at reading that, see if I can figure out what he's getting at.
- I'm still ridiculously bad at Soul Calibur. I don't know why. My Tekken and Street Fighter are definitely not sneezeworthy, though. I'm trying to do knowledge-transfer and learn Soul Calibur Heihachi... you're all like "oh, I've got a sword." Heihachi has Mishima-style karate. As Cannibal Ox says, "punch you in the stomach, and you're folding... folding."
- I had a few better ideas for TEB. He'll probably get worked on in the near future. Probably no more inference engine for him for a while ... but maybe some machine-learning techniques :) And a chart parser. Dynamic programming, ho!
