Summer camp and
zip4096-visits
So yesterday, I had dinner with Brett and Martin, and we saw the film Drawing Restraint 9, by that Matthew Barney fellow, co-featuring, and with music by, Björk. (they're apparently married, and they make a cute couple.) In retrospect, there's a definite story happening, but at first it seems like just a bunch of unusual images, mostly of Japanese people working hard and doing things with great care and precision. But it turns out to be more about ceremony and religious rites... and it's sort of about whales, or at least what people think about whales. I think you'd feel strongly about it (you might even like it!), if you see it. I spent about twenty continuous minutes wincing, towards the end. In a good way.
Also! We hung out and played video games and stuff! It's always exciting to get to see Brett!
Also also! Summer camp starts in an hour! Hooray for summer camp! Also today is the first day of AFDC summer ultimate season!

We saw it at Midtown Art Cinema :) Looks like it's still playing.
Would you upgrade us back to talking-to status if I provided you with this link (http://www.movienet.com/drawrestr9.html), a discussion from Mr. Barney about the shooting?

Brett introduced me to Matthew Barney via his Cremaster Cycle, some time ago at FSU. I only saw about 1/6th of it I think...and that was like 5 hours long or something. It was great!
Do you know what the Cremaster muscle controls?

It was so awesome to see you and Marin and Andrew too :D
Zesto's afterwards was such a good idea, and then Soul Calibur, and the delicious Thai food before the film... it was a lovely night :)
