Quite... while I Am Not A Biologist, this sounds like a pretty plausible idea... unless they're totally making stuff up. I think the hairlessness (and bipedalism, even) and the different breathing aparatus are really weird human features, and this accounts pretty well.

... what I'm curious about, is how aquatic? Like swimming and diving a little bit, or mostly wading?
