- I'm home, and it's lovely :) In addition to the usual suspects, my cousin Matt [livejournal.com profile] monsignorsmith is around, yay! Today (Saturday) is his birthday, yay! *dances, fully expects everybody else to dance too*

- Natalie and I have been wondering about the effects of tuna on one's reproductive health. After cursory investigation, it seems that neither Derek Roguski nor I have sired any children with women who regularly consume tuna, which seems significant...

- From BBC World News: Red Army Choir performs for Pope. This is mostly entertaining because (a) it involves not only the Pope, but also the Red Army Choir, and (b) it's a world news story in which nobody dies.

- While the first step is getting my gradschool applications together, even if I don't get into a high-profile school (or later, get a faculty position at a high-profile school), I've realized that it's exceedingly unlikely that I won't get in (and get a teaching/research job) somewhere at least reasonable. Unless I get hit with a bus or something, I mean. And then I've still got as much opportunity to be brilliant as anybody else, and it'll be fine. It's just a matter of doing it. Many thanks to Brett [livejournal.com profile] zip4096 for helping this realization come about.
