- I'm home, and it's lovely :) In addition to the usual suspects, my cousin Matt [livejournal.com profile] monsignorsmith is around, yay! Today (Saturday) is his birthday, yay! *dances, fully expects everybody else to dance too*

- Natalie and I have been wondering about the effects of tuna on one's reproductive health. After cursory investigation, it seems that neither Derek Roguski nor I have sired any children with women who regularly consume tuna, which seems significant...

- From BBC World News: Red Army Choir performs for Pope. This is mostly entertaining because (a) it involves not only the Pope, but also the Red Army Choir, and (b) it's a world news story in which nobody dies.

- While the first step is getting my gradschool applications together, even if I don't get into a high-profile school (or later, get a faculty position at a high-profile school), I've realized that it's exceedingly unlikely that I won't get in (and get a teaching/research job) somewhere at least reasonable. Unless I get hit with a bus or something, I mean. And then I've still got as much opportunity to be brilliant as anybody else, and it'll be fine. It's just a matter of doing it. Many thanks to Brett [livejournal.com profile] zip4096 for helping this realization come about.

You know what this means...a third Ph.D. to go along with your CS and your Women's Studies pieces-of-paper.

well, yeah apparently mercury is bad for you. So I guess its best to limit things to only a few cans of tuna a week. Now salmon on the other hand...I have heard that canned salmon is a bit safer...of course, I think most canned salmon tasted like dolphin food.

Yay for being home again! *dances*

Oddly enough, I haven't sired any children with women who regularly consume tuna either...  Think you've got a statistics project, there!

Love the article.  Especially the bit about the Pope getting "wheeled [in] on his portable throne."  It sounds so much like a scene from an absurdist play or something.

I've got to get myself a portable throne...
