number of things
Nov. 17th, 2003 02:34 pmIt's been quite a while since I've written -- this should be rectified.
We had a lovely weekend -- Amber came over, and we cooked a bit, and we started on the Get-Amber-Healthier campaign, and for that, we lifted a bit and jogged around on SAC field, and that was good. Ah, and now in my room, there's not only a ring of Christmas lights around the ceiling, but also a new Cat in the Hat poster.
Somehow or another, I managed to break elrond (the desktop machine) on Friday -- he was getting stuck trying to mount /proc, and a bunch of software had the wrong versions installed after I did an emerge update world. Tim's suggested that this was a result of messing with the ACCEPT flags, and I suspect he's right. But now he's fixed, and this is happy...
Aside from a little bit of arithmetic weirdness (it's producing Really Big Numbers in a few cases), my project 4 has all the basic workings basically working, and that's wonderful -- maybe I'll be able to turn in a completely working project for that class, for once. We spent most of Sunday afternoon in the library, and I worked out most of the math-y things for that on paper whilst Amber was typing up a paper about Merry Wives of Windsor.
Saturday, we took a trip to Galyan's (and both of us climbed the climbing wall, which I'd always wanted to do), and then popped to the nearby Publix, where there were a pair of youngsters who had that look about them that said "we look like the sort of people that you should know", which was interesting, because apparently I had the exact same look, for them. They came across as gentle, intelligent, and curious, somehow, just with how they were walking through the grocery store. So they gave a small bow and waved as I passed by. As we were leaving the Publix, I spoke to them (the older, I'd say was about 17, and he had his slightly younger brother with him), and we tried to figure out why we might have this (quite powerful and mutual) impression of familiarity -- they posited, "maybe we've seen you at a concert...", and they apparently show up at ska shows, but we hadn't been to any of the same ones. Really bizarre. I think there's a network of kindred spirits out there...
cs3210 was cancelled (again) today, and there still aren't any projects, despite that last post, where I was describing how Dr. Hutto was saying he would release them Right Quick. Appropriate action has been taken -- we spoke to the Allison, the Academic Advisor of Anomalous Assonance.
... hrmm... and many other things besides. I might come home over this next weekend, and then Thanksgiving is coming up right after that, so I'll be back again :) And apparently the Erskine Winter Ball is this Thursday...
