Coupla things...
Nov. 20th, 2003 11:20 amI'm not entirely sure why, but today I'm feeling kinda lumpy and disconnected from stuff. These things happen. It'll pass soon (I keep wishin').
That's a horribly obscure Bosstones lyric, that last sentence.
But on Tuesday night, I made my program work, and that was lovely -- I was super-excited about it, and everybody around me was treated (obliged?) to a demo, and I even got the extra credit part working, which turned out to be pretty trivial. This all felt quite good, because it was the first time in a while I'd been able to make my AI projects completely work... so demoralizing, always having something subtly wrong or just not-quite-finished on those things... but this one works, and it's really quite cool. *laughs, looks back at previous few posts* ... but you already know all about that.
Yesterday, I didn't do much that was terribly productive in terms of working (well, I got an administrative errand handled that I should've done a long time ago, and that was satisfying), but I had a bunch of really interesting conversations... with Natalie (about People and social networks and goin' to college, which she'll be doing soon), with Marty (particularly, about different things that could be done with computer architectures, like pushing different logic in and out of software or into different hardware parts...), and Tim (about religion, provability of things, Life In General, and different ways of approaching that), all in turn... and then later on, I had this massive multithreaded AIM session where many people were talking to each other about the conversations they were having with everybody else. I ended up talking with Stacie
dbbuddha for a while, which I hadn't done before, although I'd heard a lot about her -- we debugged her Java homework and then proceeded to talk about politics and government, and she comes across as really intelligent... a very deep thinker, I suspect. Interesting people just tend to filter towards me, and for this, I'm very thankful.
Stacie, you get Cool Points!
*Corey walks into the room wearing his yak.net shirt... hilarity ensues*
Apparently, today, Corey, Marty and myself all independently opted to wear our yak.net shirts. Photos here.
*laughs* Okay, now I feel better.
Tonight is the Erskine winter ball, so schedules have been juggled, and I'm headed to South Carolina this afternoon. Yay :)
