Good morning :)

Taking a wee break from working on stuff to talk about the second half of the break...

So Lloyd and I headed up to Atlanta, and on Wednesday night, we managed to locate Lisa [livejournal.com profile] pyrona and JD, and we had happy coffee and hummus at Intermezzo... and then on Thursday, we were off to go hiking with Will [livejournal.com profile] rw_conspiracy and his paternal unit.

That was a tremendously interesting experience, something totally new for me. We hiked and hiked, and amid trials and tribulations like "it's really cold up in the mountains in March" and "there was a bit of culture clash going on", we had a lovely time. We were going to go for four days (hiking something like 5, 10, 10, and 5 miles respectively), but we opted (to my great joy) to do the last two planned hikes all in one shot, so we got back to civilization (and showers) on Saturday night. Will has really good pictures; expect my shots to be up in the near future, even if I haven't been too good about posting pictures recently. I look even sillier when unkempt for several days. Will's father is a really interesting fellow... very no-nonsense, upright, take-charge sort of guy. He's in very good shape, and he knows what he'd doing when it comes to hiking... but it's interesting to watch people around their parents; I guess everybody has different demeanors that they use around different sets of people...

But yeah! So we're back, and it was lovely hanging out with Lloydus for the extra day, and we talked about all sorts of stuff like privacy issues and how daily life is changed by blogging and IM and the Knowability of Stuff, and culture and history and language and... all of the usual things we discuss when we're together. Next you see him, Richard [livejournal.com profile] reality_calls, ask about this, and then you'll understand why he's not on LJ. :)

However! However! Mi primo Mateo [livejournal.com profile] monsignorsmith has not rejected LJ on principle, and he now has one! Say hi to Matt, everybody! (he hasn't posted yet, as of this writing)

Ah, and last night, Brett [livejournal.com profile] zip4096 did a beautiful thing on the radio; he did two hours of airtime devoted entirely to Beck, which was endlessly beautiful. He pulled some fricking obscure things to play, as well, including a version of "Jack-Ass" done entirely in Spanish, which was only released in Japan! You rock, Brett! :)

So... I get back, and I realize that there are like a billion things to do (two tests and two projects this week... oy. At least the physics test will be over tonight), so from now on out, I'm probably going to be living in the Baird lab and mostly just Working On Stuff. So I might not be terribly interesting or available until the weekend, as an implication...

Okay, back to dealing with those pesky noun adjuncts...

LISP is like the very best thing that ever happened, ever.

So for prj1 for Ashok's class, I'd been using strings as my hash keys for my big table of corners on the map...

... and I change one thing: make my "generate name of corner" function spit a list of symbols instead, making it so that the whole system is throwing around symbols instead of strings... and it still works! That's absurd! It's like on a collision course with wackiness!
