- I've been kicking things around in my head, and I think that it (and when I say "it", I mean "the problem of living happily") primarily has to do with expectations -- the wrong ones, particularly. And I think it happens accidentally, for the most part. Like in wishing for something, on some level you might be expecting to get it... I'll keep thinking and let you guys know if I come up with anything interesting. If I'm sounding Buddhist-ish of late, it's because I'm reading the excellently excellent Buddhism for Beginners by Thubten Chodron, who has a cool web page and looks friendly and has nice teeth.
- It's probably all okay :)
- Everything's done, aside from taking exams. And maybe a little bit of research between now and when I leave for California. We made some neat things -- the proxy server with mod_markov and mod_oppression worked quite nicely, and we did well on our HCI project. I didn't sleep a whole lot last week, but failed to do the staying-awake-into-day-three thing, when it would've been useful... funny how a two-hour nap can accidentally turn into a thirteen-hour crash.
- Corey randomly popped by today -- apparently Chris-who-is-Bill's wedding was today (congratulations to Chris and ... Chris's lovely bride? You can tell how well I know them), and he came in for that. So we hung out tonight :) On the topic of REM songs, Mr. Stipe may not be the King of Comedy, but Corey is... everything's just more cheerful with him around. The end of the tv-guide description of the Alex-and-Corey sitcom is "hilarity ensues". You psi upsilon people are going to be stuck with me hanging out in your house a lot in the fall. (... for whatever reason, I'm feeling this general optimism and hope for fall semester... Next Semester is always going to be wonderful... but this one probably will be. Aside from, perhaps, taking a class on tech writing...)
- I can play "Let Me In", I found. This is pleasing :) I may record a version. Also, I figured out how to work Audacity's effects filters, so I can do a reasonable approximation of having an effects processor. Because, as we all know, REM's Monster album could have an alternate title...
