Many words, right before finals week...
May. 1st, 2005 09:26 pm- I realize that my journal has become more or less like a set of press releases, recently... I haven't really talked about how I feel about anything for a while, but maybe that's a good thing. Everybody waits in rapt attention for my posts, either way, I'm sure...
- The past few weeks have been really strange. Everybody's going places, and things are changing, and it's not clear what to do about it. It's finally hit me -- people'd been asking if I was excited about being done, and I am. Although I'ma turn right back around and start in on the MS... but I like the idea of being a gradstudent. I'll be one of the good ones, I hope. It's like a fresh start; I get to do the "school" thing right this time. The idea of taking Ron Ferguson's "Engineering Big-Ass Symbolic AI Systems and Writing Lots of Lisp" is kinda exciting, and for the summer, I get to get down to business on research on my own (with Ashok, and hopefully for that Janet Kolodner kid)... but at the same time, it's kinda lonely. I realize how few people I actually hang out with on a regular basis, y'know? I'm just not that close with very many people from day to day, and the ones I'm closest with are crossing state lines. But perhaps it's time to open the windows and see what the rest of the world has going on.
On the upside, once the fall comes back 'round, a number of folks may be converging back on the ATL, so that'll be nice :)
Also, once the summer starts, we're in on training for the Atlanta Marathon. No more body fat for the Rudnick. Watch out, O you marathon-trainers in the world. Also also, I'll get some time to spend with the family, which will be nice...
- Left for the school year, we have: three finals (one tomorrow, two Tuesday), a takehome final, and a paper (well on its way to written-hood). I should get in on this. I've been having issues focusing, though -- I'd much rather be putting items in the new place and shopping for furniture.
- O my people, especially those of you who're musical -- you should come and rock out in the Rock Out Room. I'm pretty sure one of the bottom floor rooms will be allocated for this purpose. Probably the one with the windows, because I'ma likely sleep and do computery things in the other one, which is a bit larger. I think.
