- I'm thinking about going back to sleep after a staggering 9 hours of wakefulness... this has nothing to do with my decision to break my caffeine addiction by going coffee-free for a few days...

- Last night, we (Martin and Brett and Bobby Z and I) saw Laurie Anderson performing her lovely "End of the Moon" piece... it was largely about her experience as artist-in-residence at NASA, but also about time and love and people and war and space and desolation and not knowing where you are. She made this beautiful music largely out of software being pushed by a modified viola... it sounded orchestral, but it was just her and her viola and her electronics. She is a very small lady, but she sat in a very large armchair sometimes. And she played with a tiny camera and put it on her bow for a while, so you could see the view along that, towards the viola strings...

- After that show, Brett [livejournal.com profile] zip4096 and Bobby Z [livejournal.com profile] bobby_z and I headed over to Drunken Unicorn for the Perceptionists show. There were a bunch of opening acts, and for one of them was particularly cool -- it was a guy from New York and a girl from Sidney, and he had a laptop and was making these cool semi-chiptunes beats, and she had a beautiful singing voice, and she used a sample-looper thing and right there, on the first try, recorded a four-part harmony thing with herself and then they spat phat rhymes and it was pretty awesome. And The Perceptionists put on an incredible show too. Mr. Lif, I think, has only gotten more twitchy and manic since we saw him... what, five or six years ago in Tallahassee? And Akrobatik is like surprisingly large. He's built like an ox. They looked like they were having such a good time. It was great.

- Music is really cool. *nods* I should do some work. Or something. Hrm.
