"Is it any wonder... ?"
Aug. 15th, 2006 04:17 pmThe mental strain of not having DSL set up at home is ever-present. Imagine what it would feel like to not have a home at all!
On the other hand, I feel a bit like a nonentity these days, sort of drifty and insubstantial. It'll help once classes start. Also it'd be nice if I had a clear direction for researchy things, and some sense that people cared about them. But it's an interesting modern dependency -- go a few hours a day with no email and RSS feeds and IM, and you feel utterly alone in the world. I just wish the phone company would get on it with setting up the new place for DSL. And that some key emails would get answered so's I can type at a reasonable speed again.
But the campus is buzzing, waking up from the summer. All the new freshmen, so tiny and full of hope and so flanked by wary and protective mama and papa bears...
On the upside, I got to hang out with Laura
