Nov. 1st, 2006 08:11 am- Bardo Thodal. A short film that probably has something to do with the Tibetan Book of the Dead, but more immediately is about shots of things happening in a city, like little cakes getting baked in a machine that stamps them with little kanji symbols. Now I want a little cake stamped with a kanji symbol, hrmmm... I'd probably just eat it. The music is lovely!
- Bardo itself, of course, is what happens after you die but before you're reborn. At least that's how they do things over in the Orient. One time, I remember very clearly staring off into space (particularly, the space around a shampoo bottle reflected in a bathroom mirror) for what seemed like minutes on end, not thinking anything at all. I thought afterwards that being dead would probably be like that. Although one time I'd dreamt that I died, but it turns out I'd just woken up in a dark, windowless basement room, feelin' down, and probably was experiencing sleep paralysis, which is weird and a half.
- Public attention is bizarre. But World Champion Marathoner Paula Radcliffe is really super-quick. And having a baby soon! Other World Champion Marathoner Paul Tergat wants to fight against child hunger. Graham and I likely will not be beating the 2:05 mark this year. Maybe we can work towards it though -- champion long-long-distance runners are apparently in their thirties!
