balloons, guido, guitar hero
Aug. 16th, 2007 05:33 pmWhen I started at my current office, there was this nice bunch of colorful balloons on the shelf next to my cube. "Welcome!", proclaims one, in several different languages. I'm getting to the end of my second week here, and they're all deflating. They float at about eye-level now, and it looks, in my peripheral vision, like somebody's peering over, towards my desk. Peripheral vision is apparently non-colorful, so just because the balloon is blue doesn't keep me from getting disconcerted like there's somebody looking at me expectantly.
Also: I just got an email from Guido van Rossum. Not to me personally, but on a mailing list. I guess I could've subscribed to the Python dev lists years ago, and this would've happened much earlier in life.
I'm getting to be productive-ish. Maybe I'll be actively helpful soon :) It's not a bad scene here. My programmering muscles are going to be pretty big, and everybody's so friendly. They're pumped about making cool software, and glowingly smart. And we play a fair amount of Guitar Hero.
