language watch: "treble"
Dec. 2nd, 2007 11:15 pmAfghan army to 'treble in size'.
SAN FRANCISCO. A young man, abruptly confronted with the word "treble" used as a verb, spends several seconds staring at a news headline. Not long thereafter, he comes to the conclusion that they must use words differently in Britain.
Had a lovely weekend hanging out at the Happy House with Lindsey
rockstarling and Paul
stereotype441. A road-running month was won. Cookies were baked. On Saturday night, there was a DuckTales and Cocktails party, which is pretty much exactly what you would expect (the themesong will leave my head, someday). Programming languages and social networking technologies were discussed. Chess and pianos were played (and the latter disassembled)...
It rained pretty much the whole time, but apparently Umbrellas Are For Wimps, and Lindsey's compatriots seem to do a lot of walking, which entails just getting wet. Portland is kind of awesome.
And now I'm about 600 miles to the south, hanging out with the some of the Atlanta Googlers. We just had delicious Mexican food... and talked about programming languages (surprise!), and the conference starts tomorrow.
