beautiful morning for a race!
Feb. 1st, 2009 10:08 amI just got back to mom's house from running the half marathon. It went really well! 1 hour, 43 minutes and change. I'll update with official results when they're up.
It's just beautiful here. It was warm enough that I ran with shorts and short sleeves (and a hat and gloves). The course goes through FSU for a bit, then out onto this lovely paved bike path through the woods. And it's really flat. Oh yes.
I went out pretty quickly and kept on feeling good. Then the turnaround came up, and I was surprised to find out that it was at nearly 7 miles, not 6.5. So I was practically done! The end of the race is 300m around the FSU track, ending on the straightaway. Brilliant. Let's do the full marathon version next year!
Oh! And I saw Brett's dad at the start -- he was there to see off his friend Judge (his hiking-and-chess buddy), who's doing the full today.
