¡Los Campeones de la Lucha Libre!
Apr. 21st, 2009 10:10 pmI just saw Los Campeones de la Lucha Libre -- it was showing at the Atlanta Film Festival, right across the street from my house. It's the heartwarming tale of young luchador El Dragón Rojo Jr, who must save a tiny Mexican village from imminent destruction by a marauding band of luchadores rudos. And also come out from the shadow of his father, El Dragón Rojo Sr, who's well-meaning and fairly lovable, but has trouble letting his son figure things out for himself. And also, he must assemble a team of luchadores to defend justice, all of whom learn a lesson or three about life and the Spanish language.
Adorable animation, sort of in the style of Ren And Stimpy or Powerpuff Girls -- but the storytelling is really surprisingly earnest and sweet.
