NYC so far!

I'm getting ramped up with my new team and my new project, and it's really pretty easy to use the subway to get places. I've done a fair bit of walking (including all the way from the office to my place), but I haven't walked north to south for my morning commute -- I'd be pretty sweaty on arrival, it turns out.
This guy was playing this instrument earlier this evening: who even knows what it is? The guy on his right is (in the photo), getting ready to play along.
I texted this mosaic to my mother (it's of her, roughly):
