new school year!
Aug. 29th, 2010 11:37 pmTime for more gradschool! My classes are looking pretty interesting, and I'm honestly optimistic and excited about the changes in the SOIC. Sensible things are afoot, wherein CS students will be able to take classes in INFO and have them count!
But moreover, cool classes for me: databases, advanced topics in privacy, and an NLP seminar with Sandra. And I'm helping Mike teach his NLP class!
My focus this semester will be on sane time management: I'm getting up and running in the mornings, getting to the office early, doing work all day, during the day, and then chillaxing and reading in the evenings. This plan worked really well over the summer. I just need to maintain large stocks of food in my office and we'll be set.
Also towards sane time management, I'm building a "weekly snippets" system. Every week, users will get an email asking them to write down what they did last week and what they plan to do this week. You can also subscribe to other people and get their changes via email. This is roughly what happens at the Goog -- I think it's a really useful part of the routine. Code lives here.
How do you keep track of what you're doing and what you've done?
