gtranslate, Mountain View, etc!
May. 17th, 2011 11:32 pmSo we're in Mountain View, and today was my first day on the job. Getting back into it has felt really comfortable, very familiar. I'd only spent a little bit of time around the Mountain View offices before, but there's enough shared culture, infrastructure, and décor where I basically feel at home...
Except: this morning, during orientation breakfast, I went straight for the coffee-preparation supplies, but it turned out that in this particular café, the hip-looking people standing by the counter weren't just anybody, they were special barista Googlers, and I wasn't supposed to just lunge past the counter. Whoops!
My office is in a somewhat out-of-the-way building, but it is full of NLP heroes. I'm really excited about this; this is going to be a huge growing experience.
Also, the walk from our place to the office (I'll run it tomorrow, or as soon as I figure out the shower situation), is along the Stevens Creek Trail, which is lovely, and the weather's been pretty ominous: rolling clouds, a chill wind, and an intermittent drizzle. It's pretty metal.
