pile of stuff -- containing an old PDA

So Martin [livejournal.com profile] samarin and I are cleaning the house this afternoon... and we're digging through all this detrius that's been there since before we moved in, in That Back Room... and among the assorted wires and painting supplies and stuff, we found an Apple Newton! (a MessagePad 120, particularly)... it looks like it once belonged to one "Tim Thomas". And it works! We just put in some new batteries.

"Holy crap!" -- Martin, playing "Missile Command"

They are! It's a bit of a shame it's hard to talk to -- apparently the software to communicate with it isn't easily findable (and there's no OS X version, so to use it I'd have to find a copy of Classic), and I don't have a cable, even. Also: the little screen is not backlit...

But yeah, it's pretty cool!

Yeah! Everybody likes (or should like, anyway) old computery things!
