hackmode issues...
For everybody who follows this sort of thing, Brett and myself sometimes have a server up and running under the domain hackmode.org, and sometimes it does neat things for us, but it's been down for about forever, and it'd never really been reliable. I went to go and pick it up today, from FNC, where it'd been colocated... and at least this time, our recent downtime was due to... the fact that the machine was unplugged, sitting in a corner, with stuff piled on top of it. Yay!
Journalling filesystem or no, latest patched-up versions of OpenSSH and qmail and a really draconian firewall or no, and [Free|Net|Open]BSD or Linux or Xenix or even OpenVMS... that just doesn't help your uptime, being unplugged.
So I've got it at home, and I'm considering putting Gentoo on it this afternoon. That, and I'd like to figure out just how we can make sure it stays plugged into the wall.
But first... the afternoon track practice :)
