Just donated a bunch (more) money to the Obama campaign. (you can too!)

I care about this a whole lot; how can we get things in a saner state, where we can really fix the world? I need to find more effective ways to help.

It's a pretty major issue; a lot of people agree that the world is fairly broken, but disagree fundamentally about in what ways, or what to do about it.

Also: I'll be 38 for the 2020 elections. I assume I can count on your support?

I'd vote for you. And I'd tell everybody else to do the same!

I decided a while ago that I'd donate equal amounts in August, September, and October, so that I didn't play a part in any sort of donation slump, and so I didn't respond to the half-dozen "GIVE US MORE MONEY BEFORE MIDNIGHT PLZZZZZ" e-mails David, et al, sent. I'll give my final amount right after the second debate, to add to that particular swell. I'm sure they'll ask me for it, after all.

I have been trying to get Obama elected by donating and volunteering, but this recent bailout bill, coupled with what's been going on in the economy, has somewhat shaken my faith. I think Obama's capable of doing the right thing,(which makes him better than McCain) but I'm not sure he knows what the right thing is, especially given his support of said bill.

This is an excellent primer on the current economic situation (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-9050474362583451279). It needs to be shown in elementary school classrooms. I doubt many professional economists or politicians understand these basic principles, and until they do, our country is going nowhere good. The political well-being of civilizations is historically driven more by their economic performance than by politicians.
