awesome things

  • I made a really delicious stir-fry with carrots, onions, garlic, peppers, fake sausage and "General Tso" sauce from Trader Joe's. I didn't eat the whole thing in one sitting. I ate half of it in one sitting, then got hungry again, and now I'm eating the other half.
  • Higher education! So many of my friends are doing PhD-ful things, it's beautiful. Fantastic PhD news this week from the [livejournal.com profile] lindseykuper and [livejournal.com profile] gtv42 camps. I brought up my doctoral aspirations with one of my team leads today -- he said he'd write me a recommendation, woo! Big computer science ahoy. We'll see if I can keep my foot in the door at the Goog with internships...
  • On the googlefront: Picasa. Beautiful. Like iPhoto, but faster and slicker, and for Linux or Windows. It found all my old photos. Including:

Wow! I never knew that Alex but he seems like an awesome one.

This was sometime close to when we went out to Lullwater and looked at some geese, yeah? :)

Well -- thanks for taking me out to Lullwater :) I was having a pretty sucky time period, if I recall correctly.

Speaking of academia -- you've been conference-ing and stuff recently, yes?

It is a lovely kind of place. I miss it! But there are even more geese out here. Some are even by my building. :O

I conferenced about six weeks ago! And I am slowly poking my way toward another project maybe, but it's very far off in the future. Can I ask why you ask?

Hahaha, Vintage Rudnick seems to be the flavor of the hour. Last night, Ross launched a surprise tickle attack, and as I was already at close range, I responded with a quick fist to the stomach, proclaiming "One-inch punch!" as I did so. And then we both paused. And then went, "Wasn't that Alex's superpower back in, oh, 2003? One-inch punches to break car axles, or moving in great circles, something like that?"

(Or do we have false, mixed-up memories?)

(All of this obviously calls for a Power Rangers icon.)

"It looks like super-speed -- but I'm just moving along great circle routes!"

*laughs* I'm flattered you remember that, thank you :)

ohhhhh, PhD?
Fancy.

I don't know how you do it, it's about all I can do to finish the masters right now.

It's easier to just do 'em both at once! I'm a Ph.D. student, but I've never been to grad school before. I don't understand why more people don't do it this way. It's where the funding's at.
