OK, I'm not going to teach that intro class. Pretty much right after that last entry, with input from a bunch of people, I decided that was a bad idea.

Still not totally decided on what I am going to do, though. Maybe just coast on savings.

(if I can find a good NLP-flavored assistantship, that seems pretty attractive... or maybe I could swing TAing for a relevant class? ...)

This department. It has some problems. It makes me kind of upset sometimes. (this is an understatement)

Are you on the linguistics mailing lists? Cuz we get emails about internships, grants, etc from time to time. Also, you should talk to Sandra and Marcus about this; they'd be the ones with NLP-flavored money.

I asked Markus if he could take me on as an RA, and he said that he'd be happy to collaborate, but that he didn't have money for me -- maybe does Sandra need stuff built? Could I build it for her, do you think? (in exchange for big NLP dolla$ and co-authorship?)

Compling-L is the only mailman list; but Margaret (the admin) sends stuff out to folks in old skool see-everyone's-email style. I'm not sure if she gets her list from somewhere official or what.

I think Sandra has another ONR grant coming down the line. I'm not sure if that money's entirely spoken for or not though.
