You might think that don't have anything better to be doing than posting a whole bunch of relatively content-free ramblings about stuff in a relatively content-free LJ, now that I'm on my Christmas vacation... you might be right. Ah!

*remembers that his copy of Silmarillion is elsewhere and that the younger sister is over in that elsewhere, picks up the phone, dials her, asks her to pick it up, and then continues typing*

Okay, so I will have something better to do as soon as she comes back from across town (the maternal unit's house) with said volume of Tolkienosity.

Today's been altogether pleasant, really... I spent a good deal of it wearing my new favourite T-shirt, given to me by earlier mentioned sibling -- it's wonderful wonderful -- a "Ministry of Silly Walks" Monty Python shirt in a nice wine-ish red. I hung out with both parents and both of the parent's SOs. I spoke briefly with Esther (she was at Disney), called her house recently, and got her brother on the phone, got him to describe his current gig (it's really impressive -- ask him about it sometime), and put in a request that she call... and this evening, I've been hanging around Dad's house, in his little gym, working towards my earlier stated "buff vegetarian posterboy" goal -- on the topic of gifts, this was largely done to this really excellent disc my mother picked out for me, by an excellent Japanese world-music group called Kodo. It sounds like African drum-beats and chanting in some places, Tsugaru in others, occasionally involves that absolutely wonderful deep bellowing sound that Tibetan Buddhist monks sometimes make, and otherwise is just sort of vaguely World-Music-y. Really slick.

So tonight, I'm probably hanging around Dad's house, reading, and maybe messing with Squeak a bit more... tomorrow, we're heading off to South Florida to visit his family there. They're wonderful :) ... and they're probably going to offer some Nice Cut-Up Fruit and maybe Nice Cake... and it's entirely likely there'll be some challah around. w00t :)

This LJ client is pretty nice... sadly, I'm on a windoze box, but the client I'm using seems reasonable enough. *shrugs* I'd prefer logjam, but then again, I'd also prefer to be using a different OS :) It's pretty much the same, this client... possibly not quite as featureful.

runner's log: 4 miles on the treadmill, in 30 minutes, with pacing ranging eights to sixes. Skated about two miles in the afternoon, if that counts for anything. Lifted for about an hour in the evening.
