- We've had a phrase around the house recently, "going to the Internet". It's kinda like being "gone to Jesus", I suppose, only it involves walking to the CoC or stucen or someplace instead of kicking the bucket. Right. So right now I've gone to the Internet, and I've been trying to get this jlk kid to tell me about whether she's hiring me on as a research assistant or not -- and she still hasn't. It makes me a sad panda. Damnation. (although maybe it'll be free tuition for the alexr, maybe-hopefully. *growl* )

- Classes are still pretty awesome, on the upside :) Marty [livejournal.com profile] samarin is going to develop super-powers as a result of my knowledge-systems class (we're not quite sure why -- but apparently one's friends usually get super-powers when one takes a class from that rwf character).

- Jacquie [livejournal.com profile] fluffyevilbunny is totally getting a mention on the LJ. Hi Jacquie! :)

- After the revolution, XML will be replaced with balanced parentheses.

- Once hackmode is back up, we should put together a site for keeping interesting chunks of knowledge. Because a lot of you kids know cool things that I don't yet, and I want you to tell me about them. I mean, people are learning about things like cryptography and abnormal psychology and whatnot, and I haven't the foggiest about any of them, so maybe we could... hrm. Does this sound like an interesting thing to anybody? ... I suppose there's already wikibooks and everything2 and whatnot, but this seems like it could be something new and different.

...do you really want to know about Northrop Frye and the development of structuralism, developments in the Western, and/or various poetic forms and aesthetics? Because I'll be happy to expound, but...I can't see as anything I know or am learning about would be terribly interesting to you.

It could be the beginning of an online community full of Interesting. While I might not be immediately interested in everything... neither are you. Or is anybody. With more people it would be better, though. We'd need to have like a categorization system...

Maybe it'd be like a wiki, or maybe more like forums, or maybe there can be something in between that's not like anything else out there yet :)

- Good luck with your internet! I too am waiting, I know it is quite annoying.

- I am interested in this development of superpowers, please tell me more. Perhaps I can find an equivalent professor here and befriend someone in their class. *evil laugh*

- I just finished cryptography although I'm not sure how much useful knowledge I know :-) It all seems so abstract and not useful when you are working with primes like 61, 73 and basing your security on the fact that no one will be able to factor 793.

We'll take the classes then write papers about the superpowering effects! Crimefighting carreers and doctorates all around!!

(it doesn't have to be useful knowledge, yo -- and 41 is my favourite prime :) )

If you build it, they may come, or they may be utterly disinterested. Help think about this kind of thing, then! :)

(deep down inside, everybody really wishes they could build a cool online community...)
