warning: boring entry
Jan. 15th, 2003 03:22 amToday's been, for the most part, a happy sort of day. It didn't start out that way -- I woke up in sort of a panic, didn't feel at all ready to run the Spanish class for today, and was pretty well convinced that I was going to have to skip O&D so that I could get things put together.
I opted to go to O&D anyway, and things worked out well. Tuesdays and Thursdays, though, it's looking like I'm going to generally have this really charming block of continuous activity from 9:30 to 3 in the afternoon. So I did O&D (it really hasn't been super-fascinating, yet, but I think it's going to be fairly cool -- I spoke with Lisa and Daniel today, briefly, and we have a Common Vision for the team -- an A :) and Daniel is indeed pretty well clever, as earlier intelligence had indicated), then went to the TA meeting... and then as quickly as I could manage, hopped over to the Swan building, where I think Will was waiting for me. I showed up well before class started, but he probably would have liked me to be a bit early, which just wasn't happening.
But our presentation for today went well -- we filled up the whole class period, got people to talk about La Lengua de las Mariposas, managed to get volunteers for our little scenes that we put on, threw candy and balls around the room (especially during our reenactments of scenes from the film), drew things on the board... generally, it was just a satisfying sort of presentation. We didn't plan it out super-rigidly, and we continuously had things to discuss. Will gets the hepcat award for the day.
S&N continues to be amazing. Prof. MacKenzie is a manly manly sort of programmer -- just his range of knowledge about Obscure and Beautiful Stuff... and his ability to run class while throwing chalk as a pointing device (although somebody lent him a laser pointer) and telling us about the innards of Scheme and OO-type systems and little features of MIPS that make it Cool... rawk :)
In the afternoon, I skated around campus for a bit, went over to the post office to pick up a package from meine Mutter, which contained a New Watch (yay! I'm connected with human society again! :) ), as well as my Old Watch, which Taren apparently found, but wasn't working too well anyway, managed to completely forget that there was a meeting at church tonight and not realize this until well after midnight, ate dinner, worked on some homework, chatted online, went for a run with Marty (just one Outer Loop, but at a pretty quick pace, done whilst dodging traffic from a basketball game that had just ended: 22:30 for about three miles), did more homework, and talked with Esther for a while...
... and then, I wrote for a bit and went to bed.
