Cibermundo, Barcelona!
Jul. 3rd, 2003 06:41 pmWe're in Barcelona, at this point :)
The train ride here was super-easy (if delayed), and our hotel is cool and Escher-like (all hard edges and weird corners and stairways that go places you wouldn't expect) and simultaneously reasonably priced and reasonably pretty, and Barcelona is the funkiest place I've been yet...
It's sort of like San Diego... it feels a lot more relaxed than Madrid, more foreigner-friendly, with the whole lovely Mediterranean beachiness going on. The people here actually drink water. The cybercafes offer free coffee. There are little workout/playground areas on the beach, and the zoo is full of penguins and monkies and giraffes and Snowflake the Celebrated White (which is to say, albino) Gorilla, who's sired more Little Gorillas Than Whichever Other Gorilla You Might Care To Mention.
So we're having fun, and I think I might have to look into living here, because it's awesome and the people are friendly and it's really pretty, and the city feels more open and friendly and aired-out, and it's got a seabreeze and wide sidewalks and a cool metro and boardwalks where I think I might like to go running, say for two years while I hang out and get a master's in Informática at one of the nearby universidades.
... and tomorrow, we're headed to Rome to meet the Lloydinator.
And that's that -- time to clear out :)
Peace out, homeslices!!!
