home again... just at a different home
Aug. 16th, 2003 10:46 amSo we set out, on Thursday morning, from Marty's house, and we drove pretty much straight-on to Chattanooga, where we dropped off The Coreynator. A mere 20 hours after we left lovely Newberry, Marty and myself pulled in to the parking lot outside Center Street Apartments, where Tim and Shannon let us in to our new dwelling... although we couldn't get our keys until yesterday, so our internal doors were still locked.
But yesterday, we got up (off the floor, in my case) and popped off to get keys (so now we're all Officially Checked In to our new place), ran a thought process something like "So what do real people have in a house?", and went out shopping for food and cleaning supplies and whatnot.
Cimmy showed up yesterday afternoon (apparently she hit Tech while we were out making grocery acquisitions), and we eventually tracked each other down, and she actually exists, which is reassuring. Yay for meeting Cimmy in realspace :) She and Marty and myself spent the better part of the afternoon out driving, delivering Petrov to the U-Haul place, which was very exciting... and then later on in the evening, we went to the Most Excellent Disco Diner. Which was excellent.
... so now, I'm sitting in my room, and eowyn's plugged in to the wall, and Cimmy's hanging out with us for a while, and the maternal unit is on the way, currently truckin' northward on I-75, and in a coupla hours, this room will have three (maybe four) more computers in it, along with the rest of my crap. I think this is going to be a good place to live...
As for computers in the room, there'll likely be eowyn, elrond (the desktop), treebeard (who currently has FreeDOS... that likely won't last, if I take the time and interest), cirdan (who needs an OS, but who has a new harddrive ready to go, and will probably get the vt220), and hackmode... Shannon apparently wants the living-room plug/IP to run her machine on, and I don't really need my other machines to have an outside IP, so I guess I'll just route through hackmode, which has two nics in it anyway.
Yeah, so hackmode.org will likely be up Real Soon Now, living in my room this time.
I'm excited :) Classes start day after tomorrow.
