"Four drinks for four cool guys..."
Nov. 24th, 2003 05:42 pmSome small number of weeks ago, I was describing, to some of my cs2130 students, how to write a recursive-descent parser (a sort of program that determines whether or not the input you give it fits a particular grammar, for the uninitiated -- it's a really simple compiler-ish trick) in terms of the Homestar Runner episode where they're looking at a thing in a bag...
"So Bubs... have you seen that thing in the bag?"
"Oh yeah! It's frickin' awesome!"
... and now a bunch of guys in the class are thinking in terms of "things in bags" when they're keeping track of their tokens... so much beauty...
Outside of that little bit of glory, I'm somewhat concerned about the play tomorrow, for my Spanish class... it's not looking good right now :-\
But Esther
eponis is in town (for a religious studies convention), and we hung out last night, and that was cool :) Yay for seeing Esther in person! See her entry for a more detailed account.
... and it looks like I've finally got a meeting with Dr. Eiselt scheduled, for Wednesday... independent study on natural-language-understanding, here we come! :)
I'm about ready for a break, I think. Goin' home Wednesday afternoon... just like the rest of the entire universe... heh... although there will be a paper and some programs to write...
