- Mad props out to everybody who makes me feel better when I'm not feeling good :) There are some wonderful, wonderful people out there, and I happen to know a lot of them, and they cheer me up when I'm uncheerful. I mean, I got multiple phonecalls from People Who Care around 4am -- how cool is that, and how fortunate am I? Very. So it'll be okay, one way or another. Because, you know, what's the alternative? There's not even one. So it'll be okay.
- (geeky idea -- skip.) Have you ever noticed how when you're compiling a new package, often it's autoconf that takes freaking forever more than the actual compilation? Isn't it the case that there are a lot of very common questions that configure scripts are asking the system by running particular commands and calling gcc and stuff? Why not have some sort of mechanism where autoconf scripts could get the common answers faster, and then cache those? The problem with that would be "how do you know when the answers are no longer valid?" ... and also "so how're we going to make a standard interface for asking the questions?"
- I signed up for classes today. I got Natural Language Understanding with Ashwin, Compilers with Olin, EduTech with somebody who Might Be Amy, Technical Writing with Somebody Who's Not Laughter, Physics II, and History of Ancient Philosophy with the world-renowned Jon J. Johnston. I probably won't actually take all of those, but that's what I'm signed up for. And I want to be doing research then, too, so at least one thing's gon' get dropped. But I was like "Holy crap! This guy's name is Jon J. Johnston! Gotta take that class!!"
- Somehow or another, I managed to sleep through the Easter church service, which did not particularly help my mood. I woke up, realized the alarm didn't go off and that it was noon and that my father was calling me on the phone offering up pings of happiness...
- I went running today. Running is good.
geekfitness should get revitalized in the near future, maybe. Or if not, that's okay too. But I'll be running a lot over the next few months (summer is for mileage, yo!!), because this helps me be happy, and I think it's a more constructive use of energy than kung fu, at least for me. Racing shape, here I come.
- That's about that. Nothing terribly important.
