"Doesn't seem so accidental..."
May. 22nd, 2004 09:26 pmAll sorts of interesting stuff going down...
You've got no idea how satisfying it is to do CS theory homework. Last time I posted, I was in the midst of working on one, and I got it all worked out nicely and cleaned up in a second pass. So much l337ness. Dr. Venkat is supa-cool :)
Thursday afternoon, I hung out with Paul R, who's a tremendously interesting guy whom I may have described to some of you... he's really verbose. At one point, I might've said that he's something like Chris V (headnut.org Chris), but that's only a superficial thing -- Paul's really not like Chris at all. Contrariwise, he has this personality that has a strong need to accumulate stuff -- data points as well as objects (and I think that he thinks that other people like to collect objects as well). He claims that he's not too much into abstract concepts, just lists of facts and rapid recall... and he was telling me about his adventures in Japan, and about Japanese culture and how he eventually wants to become a history instructor there -- CS is, in his mind, just a means to have enough money so that he won't need to worry about making money in Tokyo, and... *blinks* I think that he thinks that other people also want to know many many facts.
Also, today in the afternoon, I hung out with Scott
gtduck and we practiced tomorrow's songs for church, and it was tremendously satisfying -- that was the first time I'd played guitar with somebody else, and the suck-level was relatively low :) And I can only get better by playing with Scott, because he's on top of things. Afterwards, we went to The Guitar Center and picked up a capo and a strap, which I didn't have but should probably, and the strap I picked out is neither made of leather nor lacking in yellow stars on a black background. I'm terribly pleased :)
And I've been workin' on stuff and reading, and Mel
delamancha and I are headed out to goth night tonight. And I feel like I should get more work done, but, you know, I got some done today, and I can get more done tomorrow. So much stuff to read...
But it's all happy stuff, y'know :) And eventually, it will lead to a free multithreaded LISP implementation, or at least that's what I keep on telling myself...
