Next time you are in an elevator, stand facing the rear. Look at the strangers in the elevator and smile. Or scowl. Or say hello. Or say, "Are you feeling well? You don't look well." Walk up to random passersby and give them some money. Say something like, "You make me feel good, so here is some money." In a bus or streetcar, give your seat to the next athletic-looking teenager you see. The act is especially effective if you are elderly, or pregnant, or disabled.
- Design of Everyday Things, by Don Norman

Don Norman is the man. Just before this, he brings up the AI/cogsci notion of scripts and mentions Schank and Abelson... I'm wondering how many people in the HCI class have actually read S&A... seems unlikely that the number is high.

... and I slept through the whole morning and the late afternoon :-\ But I visited Ashwin and research work is actually getting done (our gradstudent is back from Out Of Town, yay), and in the near future, I get access to the AI lab in the CRB...

... and you can sound clever if you use the word "contextual" under certain contexts.

And that's that!!
