various and sundry things...
Oct. 31st, 2004 01:04 am- There are other interesting political things happening in the world, outside of the US election. Olé Uruguay! From the article -- they're likely about to elect a fairly leftie president (this is the current trend in South America), and "Unemployment is almost 15% and many Uruguayans feel that after 170 years of two-party rule, the time for change has come."
- Thursday was absolutely beautiful. The paternal unit came to visit, and all sorts of interesting folk got together for the Erato coffeehouse... and afterwards, many of us went off to the Disco Diner, and a good time was had by all. Many of my very favorite people around these parts... all together talking about interesting stuff... and the poetry was wonderful, beforehand. We've got some talented kids.
- HFS, I need to register for the GRE soon. And gradschool applications are due, variously, between 15 December (CMU, which is absurd), and "if possible, please try to get it to us by the end of March" (Edinburgh). And I still don't know where I want to go, or whether I'm ready to jump into a doctoral program or ... uh... *twitch* But y'know, whatever happens, it'll probably be fun... I think...
