a monday adventure
Nov. 15th, 2004 02:33 pmToday's been interesting...
It's a beautiful day outside... and thus far, I've been for a nice drive out towards Decatur (which Mel
delamancha knows is my very favourite part of the metro area). I met a very nice man from Jamaica, who has two very clever sons, one of whom is doing pre-med work at UGA and the other is dual-enrolled at State and wants to be an AE at Tech soon. I read some of the latest Discover magazine and watched a little bit of "Who wants to be a millionaire?", or whatever it's called these days, chatted with some other nice random folks, spoke with my father on the phone, and then went for a little drive with a really nice older man who pointed out trees doing pretty fall-leaf-colour-changings and admits that he doesn't like cellphones either. And then I rode on MARTA -- for free! -- because the turnstyles were busted!
And now I'm eating a nice burrito.
Oh yeah... so the context for all of this was that I was taking my car in to get serviced (it's been doing unpleasant things), and on the way there, it broke down. I felt like I should curse and be upset, but really, it was mostly just amusing. The cool Jamaican man was the tow-truck driver -- thankfully, I broke down right in front of a tire shop (in the middle of an intersection, much to everybody's confusion... *snerk*), and they knew to call him.
The biggest problem with all of this was that I missed my research meeting at noon.
Heh. So it looks like we're not going anywhere in geekmobile for a bit -- the guys at the dealership seem to think that the engine's pretty well b0rked.
Thank you, and good afternoon. *munches on burrito*
