- So the Spring musical for DramaTech is Sondheim's Into the Woods... and I've never actually been in a musical before (or any large-scale theatre production), but I've been around this sort of thing -- mostly through The Maternal Unit [livejournal.com profile] dramamamalama -- for almost as long as I can remember... so I'm going to audition. Because ItW rocks hard, and I'm expecting a light-ish load for Spring.

- In fact, right now, I think I'm only going to be signed up for two classes: Physics II and Machine Learning... the cogsci and the philosophy... I'll just show up for the lectures, I think :)

- Michael Mateas gave the guest lecture for AI today, and it was beautiful... they're doing amazing things with interactive fiction, and he showed this incredible game they're working on that involves really sophisticated language understanding and beautiful graphics and a funky funky (very realistic, oddly enough) world... go look at InteractiveStory.net -- this was the stuff he showed us in class today. It's like those InfoCom games you kids have been playing recently, only beautiful and realtime and with voiceacting and a system that he designed for representing intentions and linguistic actions and all sorts of wild stuff... this was really refreshing, and reminded me that there's cool AI research to be done, still... man, I want to build clever conversation bots... *twitch*

- This is a shoutout to my homie Martin [livejournal.com profile] samarin. Holla atcha boyeeee!!

- Heading to the CoC for a bit... compilers beckons. Oy.

- It's looking like it might not be worth it to repair geekmobile... so I ask you, O citizens of LJ -- what sort of transportation should I look for now?
