Mmm, Marty [livejournal.com profile] samarin and I got the MIMIC algorithm working -- it's a function optimization thing that uses information theory and minimal spanning trees to do Bayes nets, which isn't quite as upsetting as it sounds... Fall 2003, I totally failed to make it work when I was taking Intro to AI. Yay for being a year and a half more experienced and working with the Martin :) (isbell likes to have his students implement it because he invented the algorithm...)

Also, his friend Chris [livejournal.com profile] empirehands just came in to visit us :) Sadly, we're not going to be particularly interesting until the project is over.

Other things -- I've been running a lot this week. It feels really good, and I'll post my exploits on [livejournal.com profile] geekfitness on Sunday...

(to anybody: pardon if I've been distant... I don't know why. Nothing particular is wrong.)
