- I'm back in Tallahassee :) I'll be headed to that Atlanta place either Tuesday or Wednesday -- I know everybody's anxious. At the very least, I've got stuff to be doing :)

I have a few moments to share:

- Esther [livejournal.com profile] eponis: I'm standing in Rome, near the familial baggage, and we're waiting for our ride to the airport. I'm wearing a black fedora and my "RICE TRACK" shirt, and a gentleman comes up to me and says "Ah, you're part of the mob." At first I didn't understand, but then realized what I was wearing and that he meant Marching Owls Band. I mentioned you and your bass-drumming.

- Whitney [livejournal.com profile] elysianboarder: I read Dharma Bums today, on planes and in airports, and I can see why you like Kerouac. I enjoyed it quite a lot -- it's sort of in the same category as Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance or maybe even Thus Spake Zarathustra although I think you'd like those books and authors in decreasing order (but ZAMM echoes and goes way beyond a lot of conversations between the Lloyd and myself from five years ago, when he was more mystic and I was a deist, and I loved it to pieces)... just the rhythm and the excitement of it are lovely, and I can see what you're going for a lot of the time, both in writing and living styles.

- Marty [livejournal.com profile] samarin: Engrish in Europe. I think you would and will appreciate immensely. It's less overt, but it's still pretty awesome. And there was a guy in France with a tight black shirt, sleeveless, what said "SICILIAN MAFIA" on it in sparkly silver letters. Also there's some pretty wild anarcho-communist graffiti out there. I took pictures.

- Mel [livejournal.com profile] delamancha: I ate a lot of olives. And as snobbishly oliglot as I am, I'd like to start a compilation of phrases that render well (or Better) in English. Thus far, I have "Fascist dogs!!" is much better than the accompanying Italian "Cani fascisti!!", and likewise with "flava" and "sapore" or even "gusto"... (although with proper inflection, "sabor" from Spanish means almost exactly the same thing as our "flava" -- just with el sabor latino).

- Other things. I'll be back soon, and tell you guys all about it. I should sleep soon. It's, what, 8AM Italian time now?
