(20:07:25) [livejournal.com profile] oniugnip: Martin notes: "Donna Haraway points out that Michel Foucault's biopolitics is a flaccid premonition of cyborg politics; the cyborg does not dream of community on the model of the organic family, this time without the oedipal project. The cyborg would not recognize the Garden of Eden. It is not made of mud, and cannot dream of the return to dust. This is the central, and most ironic, myth of the Buckets Project."

"Some people don't know if she was joking or not... I had to write a paper about this." -- [livejournal.com profile] samarin on the Cyborg Manifesto

Laughing is pretty awesome.

I got the urge to go see RENT, and am currently nosing around to see if anybody is up for a movie tonight. It's playing in like an hour and a half at the Lefont.

I, like most other people, should probably be working furiously.

Here is a list of tuples, from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donna_Haraway

representation vs. simulation
bourgeois novel/realism vs. science fiction/postmodernism
heat vs. noise
biology as clinical practice vs. biology as inscription
public/private vs. cyborg citizenship
white capitalist patriarchy vs. informatics of domination

I'm not quite sure what's going on here, and I expect that you're not either. Rather like life in general...
