So it turns out that Dashboard is much more useful than I thought it'd be (it's not just a silly "oh look at our 3D interface toy thinget!" -- these Apple guys, they're clever!) and I'm using Stickies to keep little notes and to-do items...

But they're local to a given computer. And I'm using, on a given day, at least two macs and a Linux box...

There's a (poorly-named) program to synchronize stickies across several computers, though, but to use it you need .Mac (and I mean, who's got that?) or an iPod (and that seems silly, because (a) I don't have an iPod, and (b) are you going to plug it in every time you sit down?) ...

So why not keep them on a central server, say over IMAP? They're like little emails to yourself... and it wouldn't have to be mac-particular... there could be a nice API that other programs could plug into -- I'd like to have my linux box use the same stickies too (xfce , yay). It doesn't even have to be with yellow post-it notes -- this could be a general "keep little chunks of text up to date" interface, and if you want to view them some other way, well, we're keeping content separate from presentation.

Any thoughts? Would this be useful to non-me people? How do you guys keep track of to-do items?
