You think that if you shout "woo!" enough, a party will form, don't you?

Wooo! Spring break!

It hardly counts for me, of course. No classes, and I'm about to head to the lab anyway.

On Saturday, we went out to see the high school robotics competition, in which our friend Zach was competing. Giant crowds of people were at the Gwinnett Center, yelling and jumping around about robots. And a lot of the robots worked! They picked up inflated inner-tubes and put them on racks. Shall I/we/anybody get involved with this as a mentor? Does anybody know about robots or building stuff or programming and want to hang out with some high school kids?

Saturday afternoon, at Capoeira, I finally got an official nickname ("Careca", roughly: "Baldy"), given to me by Mestre Fran, my instructor's instructor, who was in town. He's totally From Brazil, and mostly speaks Portuguese. He's in his forties, but he can flip around all over the place.

Also: I took a brief trip to Florida to visit the family (yay!), hung out with G-UNIT and Big Blakey D (shared journal: yourusername)... and decided to go to Gainesville to visit Lloyd. He's doing well! He got into Toronto, where he's going to do his master's and PhD in Medieval Studies! Janice got into Columbia, for an MFA in poetry. And her brother is doing some cognitive psychology research about somethingoranother. Yay hooray :)

Tuesday afternoon, we all marched around the UF campus... For Peace!! Hundreds of people showed up, which was apparently an unexpectedly large turnout. All of the different groups came with their semirelated agendas and slogans and signs... the Gainesville Critical Mass group probably didn't really need to co-opt the protest to try to make it about car culture, but... meh...

Aight, that's enough spring breaking. Time to do work!
