I need to learn your superpowers
Oct. 12th, 2009 09:16 pmJust thinking about some people I know whom I admire.
Martin
samarin: You've got this wild ability to jump into something new with both feet, get past any initial fears or preconceptions, and just do it -- you're so unafraid to roll up your sleeves.
Graham
cola_fan: I was just flipping through All of Statistics and I thought of you. I get the impression that you've got really good intuitions about linear algebra, about Markov chains, and probably a bunch of other things that I don't know names for.
Lindsey
lindseykuper: When you need to get something done, you really need to get that thing done! You care so much about doing a good job (especially when it's for someone else), and your focus on a given task is really intense -- you don't just want to write somebody an email; it needs to be the right email and it needs to answer the hell out of their question.
Mark
markluffel: You're so creative! Your urge to make interesting things, and even to drive them to a usable state, is just wild. In the first draft of this, I used the word "drive" when talking about you like four times.
Nirmal: I don't think Nirmal reads this, but I've always been impressed with just how much stuff Nirmal manages to put out. He blogs and blogs, tweets and tweets, hacks and hacks, publishes papers to conferences all the time, and still has time for crazy web design side projects. How he do that?
Paul
stereotype441: How can you do so many different things, and so well?
Everybody else: I probably admire you too, if I didn't list you just now. But I should go finish up my stats homework so I can channel Graham.
