Election day with no elections!
Nov. 3rd, 2009 05:08 pmIt's election day!
Last night, I spent some time looking online for, y'know, issues, or ballot measures or referendums or candidates? I didn't find any. But that wasn't going to stop me from doing my civic duty of showing up at the polls and hastily forming opinions!
So, wearing my EFF shirt, after class I looked up my polling place and biked over.
It didn't look like there was anything going on, so I went home, double-checked the location, and then went back. Then I found an administrator-looking guy in the main office of the elementary school. Maybe the principal. Helpfully, he said, "Yeah, I think there are only a few places in Indiana where there are any referendums today..."
How would you have done this better? How is one supposed to find out that there's nothing to vote on on a particular off-year election day? Now, full of democracy, I should go write letters to my elected representatives.
Sorry, Wren! I should have elected to get bagels instead!
