Got the keys to the apartment! I'll be living with some number theory dudes working on their PhDs at Columbia.
At least sometimes, I want to walk to work. My planned route goes like this: take Broadway south until you get to 9th Avenue. Take 9th Avenue south until you get to Google. It's about five miles. (I'll get good at the subway system too, of course)
OK. Got a bunch of stuff to do between now and then. I should get out of the house and do it! Also, I should get comfortable with C++ and weighted finite-state transducers (and surely everything else about machine learning and statistics, ever!) ...
