making things out of other things

Creativity is remix. That's not a new idea. Really all we can do is make things out of other things, in the context that we happen to be in.

A few days ago, Lindsey and I were having some bagels, and in the bagel shop a woman was busy making flower arrangements out of flowers. I hadn't thought much about flower arrangement, honestly, but it was neat! I wonder if she'd planned it out, or if it was more of a bricolage enterprise.

We've printed out the papers, got a bunch of cat food for Mark tristmasjedi and Christine lyceum_arabica to feed to the buddies, reviewed the conference submissions, and gotten the oil changed on the car.

Now we just have to get up really early in the morning, drive to New York, and do our jobs on Monday!

I should probably remember to bring the keys to my apartment.
