marathon photoZ

You're probably asking yourself: "Self [livejournal.com profile] yourusername -- where are the photos from the marathon that [livejournal.com profile] rockstarling and [livejournal.com profile] oniugnip ran a coupla weekends ago, before they went off to Japan? Shouldn't there be lots of really good photos taken by professional sports photographers?"

Now you can stop asking, because here they are!

ETA: Actual finish time, 4:39:46 -- it took about 18 minutes between the gun and when we actually made it to the starting line. There were almost 14 thousand people racing!

Woo, thanks! :) :) We rocked this one really hard. And our second half was a little faster than the first, with a kick at the end! It was a PR for Lindsey, and a personal most-graceful for me.

(comparatively: Graham and I went a bit faster in 2006, but our pacing was reallybad, and we only managed to get to the end largely through dogged determination and intense viking virility.)

Technology!

(Little microchips in their shoes! When you stomp on these mats as you're racing they're all like "HAY THIS GUY WAS HERE AT THIS TIME!" And then they know the exact splits for each runner)

Yup! In all of my marathons, even the pretty-small ones, I've had a chip on my shoe. I don't know how they did it in the olden days!

When I think about the miles and miles of training runs you did to prepare, I'm blown away. This is not something that gets accomplished in four or five hours. It takes months of effort. Congratulations and well done!
