doing strange things in public

Last night: out running through Buckhead. I get a lot of hollered comments when I run at night, "run, Forrest, run!" being the most common. Clever!

This afternoon, unicycling through the park. Pretty much everybody seems amused when a unicyclist goes by, particularly little kids. That feels good :) I have a clown instinct.

While out in the park, I came across a group of young-ish maybe-Brazilian people with amazing dreads, hanging out and playing berimbaus. One man was doing the most gentle ginga, cradling a tiny little baby in his arms. The little kids with them were doing a little bit of capoeira, but mostly just playing soccer. Eventually, he put down the baby, and he and another guy started playing some amazingly chill (but very practiced) Angola -- roughly at Tai Chi speed. I just sat and watched for a while.

Did Paul in Portland tell you about the dorm he lived in at Harvey Mudd College? Practically everyone living there is, or is practicing to be, a unicyclist. Something about the rails along the hallways (I think) lends itself to the learning/balancing process.
Sorry, didn't mean to change the subject, but unicycling is cool, too!

I did hear that story! I also heard that a lot of buildings at Harvey Mudd have bricks that stick out a bit, providing a nice place to hang your unicycle? Have you met Paul in person? He's pretty amazing -- and a much better unicyclist than I am :)

We met at his house and shared a meal. I liked him immediately, but then he played Chopin on his piano while I was fixing the salad, which was delightful (the music, not the salad).

You haven't been able to picture that, but then... you haven't seen my clown outfit.

(... it's all bright colors and baggy, with ruffles at the cuffs and a cool hat with little bells!)

So Zack and I moved to Inman Park (on Dixie Ave, just right next to Euclid) and I found this amazing Yoga Studio. So last night I took my first Yoga class and it was amazingly centering and fulfilling. It was very eloquent with lots of fluid movements and happy calming breathing. This morning all my muscles were super sore and I thought, this an exercise I can so get behind. So if you are ever in the area, you should come by and do yoga with me. The first class is free and you would so love it :D.
